Washington State Holocaust Education Resource Center
We really enjoyed working with the Washington State Holocaust Education Resource Center.
In October they had scheduled their annual fundraising luncheon at the Westin in downtown Seattle. This year the event was a tribute to the Buchenwald concentration camp liberator, Leo Hymas.
They asked us to put together a video about Leo's story and a short video about the Center that could be shown at the luncheon.
I set up an interview with Leo Hymas. My life was instantly changed when I met Leo. He is a gentle man, a religious man, a Mormon, who has dedicated his life to helping others.
Over the past few years Leo has given hundreds of presentations to schools about his experience in liberating a concentration camp during World War II.
In 1945 Leo was one of the first American GI's to discover the concentration camp at Buchenwald. He could remember and talk about seeing the ovens, the living survivors, those bodies of those who did not survive, and of the smell he won't forget.
